An archaeological tour of the Kingdom of Mourne with the Royal Geological Society 12 April 2014.

We enjoyed a superb explorating the archaeology of the Mournes with professional archaeologist Paul McCooey, including a tour inside Finnis Souterrain, a trip to Legananny Dolmen and a visit to Dundrum Castle to hear about what new excavations have uncovered there - including the largest medieval lime kiln in Ireland. The last stop on the outing was to the beach at Newcastle to examine the identifiable remains of a Fish Trap. The outing was faultlessly organised by Dr Tim Campbell.
