Fiskars Products on Test

Posted: 16/10/2012

I was fortunate to obtain a few new tools for the Garden Armory. Having had good experience with their tools in the past FISKARS was the chosen supplier.

Lawn / Leaf Rake

First on the Test Bed was the Garden Light Large Lawn Rake Item: 135570 RRP £29.99 - in simple words this tool is such an efficient and comfortable tool to use. The refreshing design makes the chore of leaf gathering almost a Joy!

  • Lightweight large lawn rake for quick clearing and collection of leaves and debris in larger areas
  • Plastic coated shaft of hardened aluminium
  • Drop shaped soft grip handle for optimal grip
  • Hanging loop for easy storage

Bulb / small plant Planter

Next was FISKARS QuikDrill Item 134710 Small. RRP £60.99. Having over the years tried and tested many different Bulb planters which worked ok but were were not too easy to use it was a supprise to encounter this new take on the mechanical function! with a choice of drill diameters I was using the 100mm which is most suitable for bulb planting but will also be spot on for planting small pot grown plants. Good well thought out design makes for ease of use. The cutting head cultivated the spoil as it is removed to form the planting hole to the perfect depth - indicated on the depth gauge on the shaft. My wife also found the QuikDrill to be a dream!

  • For planting bulbs, aerating and fertilizing soil and installing small posts
  • Drills a smooth edged hole without getting stuck on small stones or roots
  • Handle made from FiberComp™ (a fiberglass reinforced polyamide) to make it extremely strong
  • Steel tube shaft for maximum strength
  • Working diameter 100mm

Universal Telescopic Garden Cutter

Universal Telescopic Garden Cutter  RRP £119.99. My experience with long handled pruners has always been with a cumbersome cold aluminium pole with a clunky lever action! NOT SO with this new design! I found the slide action easy and comfortable, the adjustable PowerReel cutting head very efficient. To avoid injury from falling branches be sure to wear head protection when using the long reach!

Hats Off to the designers - this is an amazing development in high pruning!!!!

A multi-use tool with excellent accessibility to tree crowns and dense bushes. Trim overhead without a ladder or at ground level without bending or kneeling.Trim overhead without a ladder or at ground level without bending or kneeling. Activate the great cutting power with a mere slide of the orange handle or when used at maximum height, pull the orange end knob. When you need to reach higher branches, try the telescopic version. The adjustable head and the light cutting mechanism ensures fast, easy and safe pruning.

Weed Puller

The Fiskars Weed Puller RRP £40.00. Earlier this year thanks to a dear gardening friend I was introduced to this futuristic looking tool. Despite the improbable looks this is a seriously useful bit of KIT. Liable to be more useful to a restoration project as aposed to a well groomed garden, this will be a savour. Also great to reduce the dependance on the use of weed killer chemicals!
The Fiskars Weed Puller is a great invention for removing weeds, such as dandelions, from the garden. The tool is easy and comfortable to use: no digging or bending down is required and no chemicals are needed. The Weed Puller’s deep-reaching stainless steel claws grab the weed’s root from multiple directions to pull it out of the ground. The ejection system allows a clean and efficient result.
